The road routes in Dévoluy are characterised by long, steady climbs that connect the different entry points to the massif. From Veynes, Corps or the Buëch valley, the roads gradually ascend towards the ski resorts and high-altitude plateaus. The route to Superdévoluy is one of the main arteries, with a succession of hairpin bends set against a backdrop of limestone cliffs. These lightly trafficked roads offer ideal terrain for long, demanding rides in a very unspoiled environment.
The Col du Noyer is one of the historic gateways to the Dévoluy. This climb connects the Champsaur valley to the massif, with a narrow road that winds under cliffs and offers spectacular views of the Écrins and the Dévoluy plateau. Within the massif, the roads to Superdévoluy and La Joue du Loup structure the routes, with regular gradients and a high mountain atmosphere very characteristic of the Southern Prealps.
Road cycling in the Dévoluy is characterised by rarely-used routes and wide-open landscapes. The roads alternate between enclosed valleys and high-altitude plateaus, with regular climbs up to the surrounding ski resorts and mountain passes. The mineral environment enhances the feeling of isolation and being in a high mountain region.
The Dévoluy massif offers terrain that is particularly suited to gravel biking and mountain biking, with alpine tracks, pastoral paths, and technical high-altitude trails. The routes cross sparsely populated areas, between cliffs, forests, and open plateaus, with a feeling of very raw nature.
