La Rosière boasts a unique position for Alpine cycling, thanks to its immediate access to the Petit-Saint-Bernard Pass. From the resort, the road gradually climbs towards a high-altitude plateau where the border almost disappears into the landscape. This historic pass, used since antiquity, is now one of the most popular routes for cyclists seeking long, panoramic climbs. From La Rosière, excursions can also descend towards Bourg-Saint-Maurice or extend towards the major passes of the Tarentaise, offering varied terrain between France and Italy.
Here, road cycling finds its natural playground with the Col du Petit-Saint-Bernard, a long, steady climb steeped in history. Gravel riders can explore alpine pastures, border paths and routes connecting high-altitude hamlets. Mountain bikers can venture onto the trails winding through forests above the Tarentaise valley and more technical routes towards the ridges. This diversity gives La Rosière a strong cycling identity, defined by its altitude and wide-open spaces.
The Petit-Saint-Bernard Pass forms the central route of the area. Its long ribbon of asphalt connects the Tarentaise to the Aosta Valley, traversing open and consistent high-altitude landscapes. The descents towards Bourg-Saint-Maurice or the connections to Séez and Sainte-Foy-Tarentaise also allow for varied routes to be created in the heart of the great Savoyard reliefs.
The high-altitude pastures above La Rosière offer ideal terrain for gravel biking, with smooth routes alternating between grasslands and views of glaciers. The more technical trails descending into the valley allow for varied mountain biking, in an environment marked by expansive border landscapes and open high-mountain relief.
