From Urrugne, coastal routes allow you to quickly reach Saint-Jean-de-Luz, Hendaye, or the beaches of Socoa. The routes alternate between seafront paths, small urban streets, and quieter sections set back from the coast. These routes offer a progressive discovery of the Basque coast, with regular views of the ocean and the surrounding landscapes. A maritime atmosphere remains ever-present, even on the shortest routes, with direct access to the unique landscapes of the Basque Country.
Moving away from the coast, Urrugne opens access to the first slopes of the Rhune and the rolling roads of the Basque hinterland. The routes towards Ascain, Sare or Biriatou introduce more pronounced relief, with regular climbs and green hilly landscapes. The Rhune dominates the entire area and naturally structures the cycling routes, between forest tracks and small, enclosed valleys. It is ideal terrain for more sporting outings without leaving the proximity of the coast.
The route between Urrugne and Saint-Jean-de-Luz offers an accessible walk along the Basque coast. The path goes through Socoa and the port area, with continuous views of the bay and surrounding beaches. It’s a short outing, but very representative of the coastal atmosphere of the region.
The roads leading into Ascain and Sare offer more hilly routes, with gradual access to the slopes of La Rhune. The landscapes become more rural and verdant, with narrow roads typical of the Basque Country inland.
