The Vélodyssée
La vélodyssée is a not-to-be-missed route along the Atlantic coast, with a safe, signposted route. Built on roads off-limits to vehicles, this 1,200km route crosses the west of France.
Following part of the vélodyssée, you can reach Lac de Léon, which is home to a large nature reserve. At this point, you can board a flat-bottomed boat to enjoy the beauty of the natural wealth of the Landes Amazon. Particularly in autumn, nature offers up some bewitching and highly captivating colours.
What's more, it runs for 160km from the beaches of Biscarrosse to Tarnos. The Velodyssée is an ideal route for a rewarding cycle ride. The route also crosses Seignosse from north to south and is shared between pedestrians and cyclists. The Seignosse and Capbreton route is gently undulating, skirting the sand dune, crossing Lake Hossegor and taking you all the way to Capbreton harbour. It's the ideal way to cycle or pedal your mountain bike in complete peace and quiet.
The Scandibérique
Also known as EuroVelo 3, it runs along France for around 1700km. It passes through Sweden, Denmark, Germany and Belgium. This cycle route offers some magnificent as well as minor roads, allowing you to enjoy the cultural richness of the Landes region.
It's an ideal spot to enjoy a bike ride with friends or family. It's a world away from seaside activities, but offers you a ride along the banks of the River Adour. For sports enthusiasts, it's the ideal course for testing your freestyle techniques.
Chalosse green route
Located at the gateway to Dax, from Hinx to Saint-Sever, the Chalosse greenway stretches for 34km and offers you the chance to go mountain biking in the Landes department. Formerly known as a railway line, the Chalosse greenway has now been redeveloped as a pleasant cycle path. It alternates between woodland, meadow and forest, allowing you to discover the beauty of the countryside on a mountain bike or VTC.
